Choosing a domain name
Choosing your domain name should be picked very carefully, its the name that will represent you online, the name that will help people remember who you are, the name that sums up what you do, and the name that can make you. So firstly how do you know if the name you want is available in the domain name market. Firstly create a new Bramble account. Then start your domain name search by following this link or use the tool bar, top rig
The best name you can get providing it was relevant will consist of one word before the dot suffix. However 99.99% of these are not available so two word domain names are now the best names available but even these are running scarce. A great name needs to roll off the tongue like Golden Game, or Tidy Tricks, so if possible keep the first letter of each word the same (Bramble Business.) Note the spelling of the name. The URL removes all spaces so like GoldeNName.co.uk you are faced with the difficulties of reading words which start and finish with the same letter, so avoid this. Your name must be easy to spell because your visitors have to write your name in the address bar before visiting, this is obvious, but the to keep your domain name simple is by keeping the syllables down to 3 for a two word domain, and 4 for a three word domain. If you are a business then you must make sure your name is easy to understand over the phone, where words may slur into one another. The name 'Stream Me' sounds modern, its short but spoken quickly could introduce an array of spellings from Stremey, Streamy, Streem Me and so on. So make sure the name can result in only one spelling and if there is more than one word, ensure they do not integrate into each other too tightly.
Your name must not just work from a marketing point of view, i.e. is it presentable, is it rememberable, is it easy to spell etc. It must allie the way Search Engines work. A search engine will crawl your site and match relevant keywords in your content, meta descriptions and page titles with the phrase searched by the Search Engine user. The Search Engine is looking for as much evidence as it can find to match the two together, so make sure you give the likes of Google, Yahoo and Bing every chance possible by including possible keywords in the domain name. The word domain GoldenName.co.uk would only be a good site if the content was about either Gold or Names, but even then the word Gold or Names both have many contexts. Multiple contexts have a negative response with search engines because there is no way in knowing if your "names" are related to Baby-names, Footballer-names, Business-names etc. Try to ensure your name is specific and cannot be contextually mixed. The name "Golden Bracelet.com" becomes much much stronger. Its not breaking any marketing rules and its within the Search Engine Rules too.
Finding an Alternative Domain Name

Smart Domain Name Search
Give the Smart Search a go and see what Bramble comes up with for you but make sure you follow those basic rules for picking a domain name. If your moving into the 4 word territory to really get the domain name you want then you should do one of two things. Introduce a (-) e.g. BrambleBusiness-Blog.com and keep things to a maximum of 3 words or rethink your name all together. The (-) doesnt affect your rankings badly. You are much better getting a keyword or two and include a (-) than miss out your keywords all together.
